Imbalances between the back and abdominal muscles can contribute to back pain and posture problems. We’ll focus on some anatomy instruction and practice key poses to restore balance. Yoga has been working on this concept for millennia! After a little anatomy exploration, we’ll practice poses that build strength and stability around your spine and pelvis.

Tight shoulders can impede your progress in yoga, especially in backbends and inversions. After a brief look at the structure and anatomy of the shoulders, we'll work on key poses and stretches to help open your shoulders. Focus will be on shoulder flexion (arms overhead), which is important in poses such as handstand and wheel pose, and on shoulder extension (arms reach back behind you) which is important in shoulderstand, camel, and bridge.
how to work with tight hamstrings (therapeutic yoga)

Tight hamstrings can make your life miserable in forward bends and some standing poses, and it can be difficult and time-consuming to stretch them. In this class, you'll learn the best poses and techniques to improve hamstring flexibility. Instruction will include an introduction to the hamstrings' anatomy, and practice of hamstring stretches, from simple, easy positions to more challenging poses.
